Each time they do the costs to the company are between 50 and 250 per cent of their annual salary. Staff should be able to say of their managers: 'they make my life easier'. What do your people say?

When staff aren’t performing as well as they should be, most managers will try to discover what the problem is and deal with the issue, often through ‘retraining’. Busy, stressed-out staff get sent on ‘time management’ courses; poorly performing teams go on ‘team building’ workshops…. Do these really make the breakthroughs that you need? I guess not!

Now there's nothing wrong with sending people on courses like these. It’s just that this might not be what your people need to really inspire them and make significant changes to take your business forward. Symptom-fixing with general training courses will rarely get to the root of the issues.
